Love of the World

The love of the dunya is something that we are all trying to extract from our hearts; it is a life long effort to which we should all be dedicated to.  I have found two noble sayings from two of the mightiest Prophets of Almighty Allah (swt) that really describe the affect that the dunya can have on an individual.

Jesus (pbuh) said, “The lover of the world is like a man drinking sea-water; the more he drinks, the thirstier he gets, till at last he perishes with thirst unquenched.”

Our beloved master, Rasulallah (saw) said, “You can no more mix with the world without being contaminated by it than you can go into water without getting wet.”
