All of you, who have grown up in the UK and possibly other English speaking countries, may be very aware of Christmas Carols. Well, as a former Catholic I had many Christmas Carols drilled into me and inscribed deep into my memory and sometimes at very weird moments I found myself hymning these songs to myself….even though I haven’t been at school since 1992!
It didn’t feel right, obviously, but some of the tunes are so catchy that it is really hard for me to totally forget them; it’s not like I can do a complete PC shut down / restart on my memory or wipe the memory hard drive in my brain… so I came up with an idea.
Change the lyrics!
So I did! And here is my first attempt: Do you remember the Christmas carol “The first Noel?” well, keep the tune and instead read my lyrics.
Oh, Nabie
Oh, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie,
You are the one who set us free
On the day our Nabie came unto us,
The heavens delighted; Islam was his trust,
He came to guide people out of darkness,
To the light of Islam wherein there’s success
Oh, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie,
You are the one who set us free
You’re the Seal of the Prophets oh, Mustafa
A shining example of character
You came and saw and conquered the hearts
of those people in Mecca who were so lost
Oh, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie,
You are the one who set us free
Through you we have found a way to Allah
,
The Creator of all things and our Sustainer
You gave us the Qur’an and left your Sunnah
For us to follow in your footsteps to Jennah
Oh, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie, Nabie,
You are the one who set us free.
