Mars turnaround

The vegetarian society has been at the forefront of the campaign to get Mars to rethink their decision to use animal rennet in the chocolate bars. Mars said that in one week they received more than 6000 complaints from the society about their decision.

A spokesman from Mars said “It became very clear, very quickly that we had made a mistake, for which I am sorry.”

“There are three million vegetarians in the UK and not only did we disappoint them, but we upset a lot of the consumers.”

I think Mars has actually underestimated the number of people who were against their decision because they have failed to understand the impact on people who follow religion. There are 1.6 million Muslims in the UK, 559 thousand Hindus and 267 thousand Jews in the UK according to the census in 2001. That is a lot of people who Mars didn’t want as customers.

It was a very strange decision that they made, it just showed how out of touch they are with their customer base. I am not a massive chocolate eater but I have been known to partake on occasions – so I was a little miffed at the idea of no more Mars bar or Twix. Mars have made a complete u-turn on their decision after realising the error of there way. Power to the consumer!!!!

I wonder if the Muslims in the UK would take similar action if they knew the reality of the fast food and butcher conspiracy (the fact that many fast food outlets and butchers sell haram meat) – sadly, many know of this conspiracy yet do nothing about it.
