I agree with the points you make. The truth is that it isn't just Americans who place low value on people in countries like Iraq. There are always local sell-outs who do the dirty work for the Americans, seeing the fellow countrymen as dollar signs (Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan etc). The prison system and police serices in countries like Iraq will probably show some horrors we probably couldn't stomach. The truth is that it is us who are also part of the problem, sacrificing our principles and religion for something which is not better. We've all forgotten about our history/religions and want to be like the west, embracing and idolising the failing western capitalism and democracy myths.

It's probably the hypocracy of all this that is the reason behind your blog though. I think, when it comes to America, it's not good enough to say "look at what you are doing to yourselves" we're no worse. As the self-appointed "policeman" of the world, USA needs to behave like the advanced and technologically forward society she thinks it is. If she wants to "solve" problems in the world, she must abide by the rules and international law. Otherwise, all she amounts to is a bully who gets angry when she doesn't get what she wants. Just like most corrupt governments, I think that USA has it's fair share of leaders with appetites for oil and wealth - most Americans probably are just ignorant to the facts. If you can't trust your government, then who can you trust? I hope they wake up soon - many of them already see how they have a good quality of life at the expense of Africa and the Middle East.

Coming back to the point, I heard that in Afghanistan widows of civilians who were killed were going to get $100 each. Compare that to the millions paid by Gadaffi for an equally evil event. I don't think that $100 is the same as $millions even when you take into account the local economy or stuff like that.

Bottom line is that a bunch of businessmen have made it to power. I would expect that they do a cost-benefit analysis of all the wars and tactics they employ around the world. So what if 100,000 Iraqi's will die, as long as they realise $billions from the oil, and miitgate the personal risk by using corporations and companies to asset strip a country. That is the way it is - but not the way they want it to be seen. Unfortunately, this is how war works. when you win, you get to share the spoils, do what you want. It's just unpleasant that everything is done behind the scenes and denied in public. Just come out with it and people can then react to it. Something basic would be to simply declare you want to go to war with someone and give them time to prepare - not go in pretending to be their liberators fighting un-prepared people with tanks and heavy military machines. These are the signs of evil or ignorant cowards.
