I am always amazed at the stories of the past saints and their ability to memorise things. Amazing scholars like Imam Shafi, Imam Bukhari and more recently the famous Hanafi scholar Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri had astonishing photographic memories.???????? I believe it was Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri who once said that if he were to glance though a book every word of that book would remain with him in his memory for 30 years; if he concentrated, he would never forget any word in the whole book.

There is an interesting guy called Darren Brown, he is a British illusionist and psychologist who has studied many of these types of techniques and he says this ability can be learned. If this is true, then imagine how many of us would be able to enjoy the benefits of memorising the Qur’an and ahadith.

I would be very interested in knowing where and how we can learn. If he can memorise the whole of the Oxford English Dictionary in 20 minutes, imagine what could be done!
