1. Verily, We sent it down in the night of al-Qadr.
2. And what will make you know what the night of al-Qadr is?
3. The night of al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.
4. Therein descend the angels and the Spirit by their Lord’s permission with all Decrees.
5. Peace! Until the appearance of dawn.
Allah , Most High informs us that He sent down the Qur’aan in the night of Al-Qadr, and it is the blessed night referred to in the Words of Him, Almighty, All-Powerful:
Verily, We sent it down in the night of Al-Qadr.
The night of Al-Qadr occurs in the month of Ramadhaan, as Allah says:
The month of Ramadhaan in which the Qur’aan was sent down (Soorah Al-Baqarah 2:185).
The migration of the Muslims to Abyssinia was a massive moment as it afforded emancipation from fear and freedom from the persecution at the hands of the Meccan idolaters.
This part of the film The Message shows the moment when the Muslims met with the King of Abyssinia, the Negus As’ha’mah (who later converted to Islam) It shows the amazing moment when Surah Maryam was recited detailing the truth about Jesus (as) and his reaction to it.
I really love this moment and thought I would share it with you..
Shaykh Darani (Allah ’s mercy be upon him) said that he heard from the Shayoukh of Hadith that du‘as (supplications) are answered when the names of the people of Badr are mentioned. He added that it’s a tried and tested practice (mujarrab). Others have said that many of the Awliya (those close to God) only attained sainthood (wilaya) by reading their names and doing Tawassul through them.
Therefore we ask Allah Glorified and High through our prophet and master Prophet Muhammad and through Abu Bakr, and ‘Umar, and ‘Uthman, and ‘Ali, and Talha, and Zubair, and ‘Abd al-Rahmn, and Sa’d, and Sa’id, and Abi ‘Ubaida, and al-Akhnas, and al-Arqam, and Anasa, and Ilyas, and Unais, and Iyas, and Anas, and Ubayyi, and As’ad, and Aws, and Bilal, and Bujair, and Bahhath, and Basbasa, and Baraa’i, and Bashir, and Bishr, and Tamim, and Tamim, and Tamim, and Thaqf, and Tha’labat, and Thabith, and Thabith, and Thabith, and Thabith, and Thabith, and Thabith, and Tha’labat, and Tha’labat, and Jabr, and
Jabir, and Jubair, and Jabir, and Jubair, and Jabir, and Jabbar, and Hamza, and H?tib, and Hatib, and al-Husain, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and al-Harth, and Haritha, and Haritha, and Haritha, and Haritha, and Huraith, and al-Hubib, and Hab?b, and Haram, and Hamza
Before the battle raged our beloved Prophet Muhammad stationed the Muslim army at the valleys upper part where he could see the whole battlefield and have his commands conveyed instantaneously. As the final prerequisite, he prayed with great earnestness and humility
O Allah , here are the Quraysh who in their vainglory seek to deny and cry lies against Your Messenger. O Allah , support us with the help You promised me. O Allah , were this small group pf Muslims to perish, no one in the whole world would remain to worship You
After this dua the Prophet Muhammad picked up sand and threw it in the direction of the kufaar and said “Shaahatil Wujooh” which means ” May their faced be deformed.
This dua is recited in the Hizb ul Bahr of the Shadhili tariqa
The 17th of Ramadhan (in two days time) is a very important date in the Islamic calendar. It is a date that that signifies the strength of Islam and the sacrifice of the Muslims. It the anniversary of the most spectacular and monumental battle in the history of mankind. The Battle of Badr.
Why is it the most spectacular and monumental battle in the history of mankind? Well, it was the and original battle between good and evil, between truth and falsehood and between the best of Mankind and the best of Angels against the worst of mankind and the worst of the shayateen.
It was the first “battle of the worlds;” soldiers from the unseen worlds were riding on horse back with swords and battling along side the best of all creation, our beloved Prophet Muhammad and his companions, who were the best of men.
No Hollywood, Bollywood or Lollywood film has yet to create such a scene!
The Angel Jibreel (as), wearing a yellow turban, was leading and commanding the army of angels in the unseen world and the battle raged. Just imagine!
What a moment, what a battle, what a day! These are the stories and events our children should be told about, these were truly great events in the history of mankind and they should be remembered, taught and celebrated.
A brothers was telling me this morning that the names of the Shuhada of Badr were all memorised in the past by the Muslims, after the names of Allah and His Rasul were memorised. Inshallah, I will list the names on the 17th Ramadhan.
The brothers at Manaqib Productionshave released some new nasheeds…and they’re great mashallah. They produced the Muhammadan Ode last year which had great reviews This year they have released their new album entitled From God’s Beauty.
The nasheeds are traditional and full of love and devotion for Allah and His beloved Prophet Muhammad

A couple of years ago i fell upon a story that i thought was very interesting indeed. It was the amazing story of the largest experiment ever conducted by humanity in an attempt to understand the origins of the universe. wow
Since then it has been all over the news so i am sure everyone has heard of it. If not, here is a brief explanation of what is going on today as i type.
The LHC (Large Hadron Collider) is this humongous particle collider which stretches around 27km long tunnel which aims to accelerate two proton beams at light speed in opposite direction, causing them to collide.
Why bother? Well, interestingly, scientists wish to re-create the conditions just after the Big Bang so they can see what was about. They hope this will allow them to understand more about how everything was created or “evoluted” (depending on your worldview)
I am finding this experiment very interesting indeed especially as it brings Allah into the conversation of the masses. I am hoping that it will encourage people to start to think about the folly of chance creation.
Theorists are coming up with all kinds of possibilities resulting from this experiment, some are asking; will this experiment create new universes with the chambers? Will loads of black holes be created? How about a tunnel to new dimensions? The possibilities seem to be endless for the creative mind; this is science fiction turned reality at its most fun.
Some gloomy scientists are getting worried as they are predicting the end of the world; they are worried about the “real possibility” that this experiment could create Black Holes which could suck the rest of the world into it resulting in the end of life.
As believers in Allah . we know this is not the way the world ends so we can sit back and take it easy and watch with interest.
The Beeb are covering it live in Radio 4, if you’re interested
Taken from Akaabir ka Ramadhan by Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariya (ra).Maulana Muhammad Zakariya (ra) writes a letter to Khwaja Azizul Hasan who replied with the following:
Dear Respected Moulana Zakarya,
Your letter filled me with great joy. Because I was myself not fully acquainted with some aspects of Hazrat’s general habits in Ramadan, I was forced to present your letter to Hazrat himself.
On reading it, he said: “Write back to him saying that if he wants to know, he should ask me directly.” I write this merely to inform you. It is because I am presently in I’tikaaf that I write this in pencil. Kindly forgive me for this.
Yours truly,
AZIZUL HASAN.
1. Special care was taken at Hazrat’s place with regard to the setting right of clocks and watches. A special person was appointed to do that throughout the year. But during Ramadan, special care was taken to set them correctly through the aid of the Post Office or the telephone department etc. Even then, ‘iftar’ was started two or three minutes after the times shown on calendars.
Similarly at Raipur, where the rising and setting of the sun can quite clearly be seen, Hazrat Raipuri took special care that the times shown on watches were carefully synchronised for both those times. As for my late father and my uncle (Maulana Ilyaas), they did not rely much on the times shown on calendars nor on clocks. For them this hadith was of paramount importance:
“When the night has set in from here and the day has departed from here, the faster’s fast is over.”
2. As already mentioned, he used to wait two or three minutes after the times shown on calendars.
3. Hazrat was very particular about breaking his fast with dates and zam-zam. When throughout the year any returning Hajis brought presents of dates and zam-zam, these were stored away for use during Ramadan. There was no problem in keeping zam-zam stored away, but if the dates started going bad, they were distributed before Ramadan. However, at the time of Iftar Hazrat also used to drink half or a quarter cup of tea with milk and then gave the rest of the cup to this humble soul.
4. During Hazrat’s time a period of roughly ten minutes used to be allowed between the azaan and the salaah for Maghrib, so that those who performed their iftar at home could be allowed to arrive at the mosque in time to join the jama’at.
5. Hazrat broke his fast in the Madressa together with a few guests and attendants - fifteen to twenty in all. In Medina, he used to break his fast in the Madressa Uloom Shar-’iyyah.
6. This has already been answered.
7. This has already been answered under No 3.
8. There was no difference in the number of raka-’aat performed as nafl after Maghrib. However in the manner of performance there was a definite difference. Generally he recited 1-1/4 paras therein and during Ramadan it was those paras, which he was to recite in taraweeh later in the evening.
9. This has already been answered.
10. After Salatul-Owabeen, Hazrat used to return home to have his meal over which he took about twenty to twenty-five minutes, but he ate very little during this meal.
Here by us in Kandhla and Gangoh there was no custom of eating pulao at sehri time. In fact there was a strong feeling against it as people considered it something, which made fasting difficult by causing thirst. For the first time I ate pulao at Hazrat’s place at sehri in Saharanpur. I have also never had the habit of eating pulao at iftar time because it proved to be a burden in performing taraweeh afterwards. However as long as my health remained good, I used to have a solid meal at sehri time.
