bsmlh Muslim Demographics: Were Taking Over the World?

By the middle of this century the Muslim population will be such that it will dominate the world.  This video discusses the demographics that will lead to this change.

Obviously, Christians and Europeans are very worried about this fact and if we look in history we will se that they maybe justified because their birth rate is so low that at no stage ever has a nation turned around such a small rate.  It has only lead to their total decline and ultimate destruction.

Very interesting video and the good news is that the Muslims, by simply doing what we are doing, will soon be the most dominant force in the world, inshallah.

Note that this video is made by Christians to scare the Christians about the Muslims and to get them call Muslims to the Gospels.  It is obviously a tool to increase the hatred between our two faiths – like we need anything else to do that!

The video is not that accurate. Currently over 32% of the world population is Christian. The Christian world community is growing with 1.8% per year, which is just a little under the growth rate of the world population 1.85%. The Muslim world population is currently 23% and growing at over 2.5% a year. Islam is the only world religion (not counting Bahai or Zoroastrians) which beat the generic growth of world population. Islam will attain parity with Christianity between 2035 and 2040, not before.

However, the growth is largely driven by fertility rate, whereas the Christian growth is sustained by larger conversion rates than Muslims. For instance, in year 1900 only 10% of Africa was Christian. In year 2000 45% of Africa was Christian. In year 2010 Africa will be 50% Christian. Muslim da’wa is in other words well behind Christian missionary efforts.

One of the interesting things ive seen in stuff written at the turn of the 19/20 century is that at that time the estimated number of muslims was 200-300 million.

But yeah, we should remember the lesson from the prophetic era that numbers by themselves will not give us success/victory.

Reminds me of a saying from a book i am reading, “Islam is a religion without men/people and Christianity is people without a religion”.

I found that video to be slightly amusing, which is proabably not the best thing. Much of the infromation was either obvioulsy biased or false. I hate to be the one to say it but, could fertility and increase in Islamic marriages possibly be cause for the recent spike? I vote yes. But, this is not to deny the many converts that continue to introduce a positive Islam to thier families,co-workers, and neighbors.

I hope by that time we’ll see that the dominance of one group of people over another is not the way. I also wonder what it means for the development of Islam as a religion. Look at the many sects of Christianity – what will the growth of Islam mean for the various Sufist streams, Sunnism, Shiitism (?), Bahai, strict conservativists or moderate Muslims that might lean towards secularism?

It will be an interesting time and possibly with more Muslim-on-Muslim violence. (eg. Iraq, Pakistan, some Northern African states).

I’m happy to have lived in Istanbul, so that I’m at least a little prepared for the changing demographics :)

I am a Christian and I personally am not afraid of Islam. I am afraid of the false believers that hide behind the faith. If you are a true follower of any religion I believe there must compassion and caring for each other no matter your religion.
I think many Americans are afraid simply because of the Taliban hiding behind Islam and why shouldn't they be? The Taliban does not want to educate their people, they envoke fear and destruction.
