It has been 11 long days since the disaster hit Burma killing 10’s of thousands of people and people are in a desperate state waiting for help. Unfortunately, as you may have read or seen on the news, the government of Burma is not that forthcoming in accepting the help of others in “their crisis.” This has hampered relief efforts and is causing further deaths. There are some agencies, however, on the ground helping and Islamic Relief is partnering up with them to supply necessary aid.
There is also the unfolding disaster in China where over 13.000 people have been reported killed by the earthquake and a further 60.000 missing (which could rise)
We need to put our hands in our pockets and spend and we need to take action to help raise money for these disasters
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad says:
‘And strive with the strength of your legs to seek aid, rise with the strength of your arms -with weakness; all of this is from the doors of sadaqa’ Ahmed

The family left for Syria by car, but in the panic, he lost control of the car and it crashed, turning over several times. The father died on the spot, while his three sons were severely injured.
The eldest son suffered from a severe facial injuries, the middle son was traumatised and cannot speak anymore, while Yusef, the youngest, was left with complicated fractures in his legs. He is crippled and cannot walk.

Islamic Relief have a campaign entitled ‘Action for Africa’ and over the past couple of months they have been raising money for many people who are suffering through illnesses such as AIDS & HIV and through desasters like the sever drought that is causing much suffering at the moment.
Islamic Relief founder Dr. Hany Al-Bany travelled to Mali and Niger recently and he came with drilling machines to create wells which will provide communities with much needed water that is clean and pure, something that they have never had.
During this visit in the middle of the drought the local area suffered another large sand storm which was hampering their efforts, Dr. Hany and the Islamic Relief staff decided to pray Salatul Isqa (Rain Prayer) and ask Allah to send the rain. To the amazement of the local people no sooner had the prayer started clouds began to form, thunder and lightening began and then the rain came. A quick thinking team member got the camera and the end part of the prayer was caught on film!
Subhanallah, this scene is beautiful is it not? Just see how quick Allah answers the prayers of those who sacrifice to help others.
Islamic Relief are still working in these areas to provide communities with much needed support, if you assist those people by donating you receive Sadaqa Jariya inshallah, continuous reward until the Day of Judgment.
Blessed are those who give regular charity and shame of those who don’t.
Amongst them are men who made a covenant with Allah , that if He bestowed on them of His bounty, they would give (largely) in charity, and be truly amongst those who are righteous. Holy Qur’an 9.75
