Many of you who voted for the Liberal Democrats in the last election will have done so on the basis of their election manifesto which promised that they would champion freedom and dignity, oppose inequality, promote human rights and the be committed to “fight poverty, oppression, hunger, ignorance, disease and aggression wherever they occur…”

Nick Clegg needs to be politely reminded of his pledges in light of his support for a number of Coalition government plans and a shift in his personal position where Israel is concerned. Previously, the Palestinian struggle for liberation and freedom was able to rely on the Liberal Democrats to champion the cause. Nick Clegg is now more of a Friend of Israel than a friend of justice, having failed to turn up at the Lib Dem Friends of Palestine event at the Party Conference recently, while he delivered a key speech at the Friends of Israel fringe event instead.

Last week he attended a lunch organized by the Lib Dem Friends of Israel and expressed his support for the proposed change in the Laws on Universal Jurisdiction which will allow accused Israeli War Criminals to visit Britain once more without fear of having international law enforced against them. Mr Clegg lamented about Israel’s security concerns, failing to mention the attacks that Israel has undertaken on its neighbors, the illegal occupation which has been ongoing for so long, and the tens of thousands of innocent civilians Israel has killed since 1967.

TAKE ACTION

Contact Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrat Party and express your concern. Make the following points:

1. The Lib Dems are departing from their election promises
2. The laws of universal jurisdiction cannot be changed as all British citizens should have the right to enforce this law where our politicians fail to do so
3. Israeli politicians only need to fear our laws if they have committed War Crimes, and those who have deserve to be prosecuted for it

Al Jazeera journalist Jamal Elshayyal was on board the MV Marmara on the Gaza Flotilla which was stormed by Israeli soldiers on 31 May. As with others on board, Jamal’s possessions were all confiscated by the soldiers, and not returned to him. As a journalist, his rights were not respected. As a citizen of Britain, worse still, his passport was not returned to him, and 23 days later, is still missing.

Just a few months ago Israeli secret services used stolen British passports to carry out an assassination in the sovereign country of the UAE. At the time, William Hague announced in parliament that he would never allow such a thing to happen if he was foreign secretary. Today, he holds that very position, yet has refused to publicly demand for the return of Jamal Elshayyal’s passports.

It is up to you to hold our Foreign Secretary to account. Email, call and write to him today, and ensure that he publicly pressures Israel for the return of the passport.

Livelihoods and lives of people living in the Gaza Strip have been devastated by over 1000 days of near complete blockade. A fact sheet has been compiled with technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).  The report shows that despite having the potential to provide substantial improvements to the quality of life, food security and nutrition to an estimated 1.5 million Palestinian people, Israel has actively prevented large areas of land to be cultivated by restricting the Palestinians from the area and blocking vital imports

The area inside the “Buffer Zone” along the northern and eastern borders with Israel contains nearly a third (29%) of the Gaza Strip’s arable land, and is inaccessible to farmers and herders. The width of the Buffer Zone is 0.5?1km along the eastern border and 1.8?2km along the northern border.

The Buffer Zone contains rain?fed crops including wheat, barley, beans and various vegetables, as well as olives, almonds and citrus trees. Most of the Gaza Strip’s animal production is concentrated in the zone

Yesterday, Tony Blair appeared on the BBC as the Middle Eastern Peace envoy, you can see EVIL dripping from his face. Subhanallah, after 2 YEARS, he is proud that he has finally made the Zionists “realise” that a distinction has to be made between keeping Israel safe and allowing the Palestinian populate access to basic necessities. TWO BLOODY YEARS. And he expects a Nobel peace prize for his efforts?

He is plainly not interested in the Palestinians; his puppet masters are the Zionist thugs who dominate this strange modern world with so much oppression and deception.  He implied that Hamas are the obstacles of peace, he quotes them as saying  “we don’t give up the use of violence and we reserve that right.”  What is the bloody differenced between that quote and the Israeli mantra: “Israel has the right to defend itself?”  NONE!

The truth is every nation has the right to defend itself – even Israel, but Israel attacks during peace time, sparking off the home made rockets from Hamas which are nothing more than fireworks.

The world knows who the real obstacles to this process are, and it is NOT Hamas – and Blair knows it.

The whole world gathers to vote on the solution to the Israeli oppression in Palestine every year and as Norman Finkelstein points out, it is very clear who are the obstacles:

Every year, the United Nations General Assembly votes on a resolution entitled “Peaceful Settlement of the Palestine Question.” And every year the vote is the same: it’s the whole world on one side; Israel, the United States and some South Sea atolls and Australia on the other side. The vote this past year was 164-to-7. Every year since 1989-in 1989, the vote was 151-to-3, the whole world on one side, the United States, Israel and the island state of Dominica on the other side.

Blair is a liar and a deceiver – we know Israel is the problem and will never allow Gaza to develop – he is incapable of any resemblance of morality and this is why he rolls over to the godless Zionists and snarls at the Palestinians.
