‘If you want izzah and nasr you have to support Rasulallah sallahu alaihi wasallam. Supporting our beloved Prophet Muhammad is the key to our success as an ummah because he is the cause of the deen. There is every reason for us to love rasulallah salallahu alaihi wasallam, just see the favours he extends to us and all of humanity. If you don’t see these reasons, then love him because Allah loves him.
Prophet Muhammad says in one hadith on the authority of Anas ibn malik ‘Love Allah for what He provides you of His Bounties and love me because Allah loves me.’ If you don’t see any virtue in RasulAllah, you don’t read his seerah, you don’t read his life, you don’t know his character, you don’t know his miracles, his knowledge, his beauty, you don’t see the bounty that Allah has extended to you because of him, even if you don’t know anything else, love him because Allah loves him.
You have to submit to rasulallah salallahu alaihi wasallams sunnah, you have to submit to his commands, total submission to rasulallah salallahu alaihi wasallam.
A sahaba asked our beloved Prophet Muhammad ‘By my father and my mother, can I write everything you say, even when you’re angry?’ our beloved Prophet Muhammad replied, ‘By Allah , write everything. Write everything I utter, by Allah nothing comes from this tongue but the truth’. This is why he is perfect and we have to love him. He is the tissue of our life, he is our intercessor on the Day of Judgement, he is the door through which we access al Jannah.
Loving our beloved Prophet Muhammad knows no limits.
Thabit al bunani, a student of Anas ibn malik, he accompanied Anas for over 30 years. He said to Anas ‘I want to kiss your eyes, because with those eyes you saw Rasulallah salallahu alaihi wasallam
This is a fantastic and amazing video about the history of our alphabet. The experts in this video are university professors / atheists yet they confirm that the history of the alphabet we know today has its source in the Sinai peninsula and Prophet Musa (as).
Anyway, watch this video and be amazed at the history of the written sound and the divine origin.
I have to say, i like Melvyn Bragg, in fact, i have always found him to be a very honest and likable person and his shows can be very informative. So when was i reminded, in a spate of text messages (that i am sure was played across every Muslim household across the UK) that a programme about Jesus (as) was to be aired by Melvyn Bragg..and that Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, amongst others, would be speaking on, i got very excited. Not least because finally we were going to get someone with knowledge on television speaking about Islam sensibly rather than some puppet Muslim who utters the kind of rubbish we are so accustomed to listening to on TV.
I tuned in (i must admit to sending a few text messages myself) and i really enjoyed it, i felt that they could have expanded on a few of the issues raised though, for example, they could have gone into much more detail about the second coming Of Jesus Christ (as) as this is an event that is so important to both Christians and Muslims. What we got was a glossing over of information about the second coming and so we never really got stuck into the ‘nitty gritty’ of it, unfortunately.
It was the first time i was watching something on TV that was presenting the Muslim understanding of things and i hope…i really hope it wont be the last.
It was also good in the sense that the issues that fundamentally divide Christians and Muslims were raised too. Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said:
“In the Christian narrative the most central and fundamental point of Christianity is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ but Islam basically denies that. The Qur’an states that it was made to appear that Jesus was crucified as when the Romans captured Jesus God organised a rescue operation.”
and that really did say it all as it is this issue alone that divides these two religions.
Melvyn Bragg interviewed a couple of Christians about the Qur’an stories and the stories of the hadith regarding Prophet Jesus (as) and i was not surprised to hear them refer to it as fairy tales and made up stories from the periods after Prophet Jesus (as). However, i was very surprised to hear them go down the route of authenticity in their defense of the Bible narrative. They claimed that the bible is rigorously authentic…which is absolute nonsense - Christianity does not have sanad which establishes authenticity for their Bilble like the Muslims do for the Hadith or the Jews did (at some point in their history) for the Torah - the Christians have actually no idea at all who wrote the Bible and who witnessed what event and moreover, they use a translation of a translation, of a translation, of a translation, of a translation, of a translation that was made many many years after the time of Prophet Jesus (as). The authenticity of the Bible passages are in total question…as apposed to the Hadiths where Muslims themselves have imposed the tightest and most rigorous quality and authenticity tests…
..anyway i digress..
Obviously, we are going to get uneducated idiot apostates like Patrick Sookhdeo, an Anglican canon, who said of the program: “How would the Muslim community respond if ITV made a program challenging Muhammad as the last prophet?” and we are going to get Christians, in retaliation, insulting Prophet Muhammad like they love to do.
But those of us, Christian or Muslim should be happy that we finally had some honest television about Islam and Christianity and the tenants of faith because, let’s be fair; we haven’t had much we could smile about on TV have we?
It could have been better though, i was not 100% happy because i felt that if some of the issues were discussed in more detail the Christians may have realised that they need to actually start to think more about what they believe.
Moosa (Alaihis salaam) performs Salaah in his Grave
It is related by Hadrat Anas (Radiallahu anhu) that Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “On the night in which I was taken on the journey, I passed by Moosa (Alaihis salaam) and he was performing salaah in his grave.“ (Sahih Muslim Pg.268 Vol.1)
People’s Lips Slashed with Shears
Anas (Radiallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “On the night of Mi’raaj, I saw some people whose lips were being slit with scissors of fire. I asked Jibraeel who these people were and he replied that they are the khateebs who command people to do good deeds while forgetting their own selves.” In another version of this Hadith it says, “They are the sermonizers (of your ummah) who say such things which they themselves do not do. They read the Book of Allah , without themselves practising upon it.” (Mishkaatul Masaabih Pg.438)
People Scraping their Chests with their Fingernails
Anas (Radiallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “When I was taken up during the Me’raaj, I passed by people who had fingernails of copper and they were raking their own faces and chests with them. I asked Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) who they were and he replied that they were those who used to eat the flesh of others (i.e. slandered them) and attacked their reputations.” (Abu Dawood, in Mishkaat p.249)
The Miserable Plight of those who Consume Interest
It has been narrated by Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu anhu) that Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “On the night of Mi’raaj, I passed by people with bellies as huge as houses (in which people stay) and inside their bellies were snakes which were visible from the outside. I asked Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) who they were. He replied that they were those who consume interest (usury).“(Mishkaatul Masaabih Pg.246)
Angels Emphasize the Importance of Cupping
Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radiallahu anhu) narrates: “Among the things described by Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) about the journey of Mi’raaj was that every group of Angels he passed by, urged him to instruct his ummah to practise cupping.”(Mishkaatul Masaabih p.389 from Tirmizi and Ibn Maajah)
In the past, the custom of cupping was very much in vogue among the Arabs. It is a way of letting out bad and excess blood from the body and a sovereign remedy for many diseases. People have abandoned having faith in this practice today. Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) used to have his head and the area between his shoulders cupped. (lbid)
The Reward of the Mujaahidoon (i.e. those who strive in the path of Allah )
Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) was travelling with Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) when they passed by a group of people who were sowing seeds in the ground and harvesting the crops on the same day. Immediately thereafter, the seeds would again be sown into the ground and the entire process would be repeated. When Nabi (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked Jibraeel(Alaihis salaam) who these people were, he informed him that they were those who strive in the path of Allah . The reward for their every good deed would be multiplied seven hundred times and whatever they spent, Allah Ta’ala would certainly reward them for it.
People’s Heads Crushed with Rocks
Nabi (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) passed by another group of people whose heads were being crushed with boulders. After becoming smashed, their heads would again resume their original shape, only to be crushed again. This process would continue ceaselessly. When he asked jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) who they were, he replied that they were those people who were neglectful of their salaah. During the time of salaah, they would remain asleep.
The Despicable State of those who withhold their Zakaah
Then he passed by another group of people whose private parts, from the front and behind, were wrapped in rags and they were grazing like camels and cattle. They were eating Daree’(a thorny plant of the fire of Jahannam) and Zaqqoom( a most bitter and foul smelling tree growing at the bottom of Jahannam) and the smouldering stones of Jahannam. Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked who these people were and Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) replied, “Theyare those who do not discharge the zakaah of their wealth.“
People Eating Spoilt Meat Thereafter Nabi (sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) passed by a group of people in front of whom was some cooked meat in a pot. In another pot nearby, was some raw and decayed meat. These people were eating the decayed meat and leaving the cooked meat untouched. Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) who they were, and he replied that they were those men of the ummah, who, despite having their own lawful and pure wives, would spend the night in the company of adulteresses and despicable women, and remained with them till the morning. And they were those women of the ummah who had left their lawful and pure husbands to spend the night with adulterous and evil men.
A Person Carrying a huge bundle of wood
Then, Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) passed by a man who was struggling to carry a very large bundle of wood which he was unable to bear, yet he wanted to carry even more. When Nabi(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked who he was, Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) replied that this was the person who had been a trustee of people’s possessions, but he had failed to discharge the trust. And yet, he was eager and willing to take on more of the things of people in trust.
An Ox Attempts to Enter a Tiny Opening Thereafter, they came upon a tiny opening from which a huge ox emerged. After making its appearance, the ox wanted to return into this small hole. Nabi(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked who this was and Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) replied that this was the person who, after having uttered some very serious and sinful words, was full of remorse and wished to retract them but was unable to do so.
The Fragrance of Jannah Then Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) reached a valley from which a very beautiful fragrance emanated. The smell was of musk and it possessed a voice. Nabi(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) asked, “What is this?” Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) replied that it is the voice of Jannah saying, “O My Lord! Bring to me those people who have been destined to stay in me, and fulfill your promise.”
Hearing the Shriek of Jahannam
Then, Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) passed by another valley from which an unbearable voice could be heard. When he asked about it, Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) replied that it was Jahannam imploring Allah saying, “Make over to me the people who have been destined to dwell in me, and fulfill your pledge.”
A shaitaan Trails Them
In the Muatta of Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullahi alaih), there is a Hadith narrated by Yahya bin Sa’eed, that on the night of Mi’raaj, Nabi(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) saw a rebellious jinn pursuing him with a flame of fire. Whenever he would turn(to the right or left), he would catch sight of this Jinn. Jibraeel (Alaihis salaam) said, ” Should I not teach you some words which, if recited, will extinguish this fire and cause him(the Jinn) to fall down on his face. Upon request of Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) , Jibraeel(Alaihis salaam) recited the following words:
Salaams from Ibrahim(alaiyhis salaam) to theUmmah of Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam)
Abdullah bin Mas’ud(Radiallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, “On the night of Mi’raj, I met Hazrat Ibraheem(alaiyhis salaam) and he said to me, O Muhammad ! Convey my salaam to your Ummah and inform them that undoubtedly the soil of Jannah is pure, its water is sweet, its ground is barren and its plants are: “Subhanallahi walhamdulillahi wala ilaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar.”
TWO OTHER GIFTS BESIDES SALAAH
On the night of Mi’raaj, apart from the gift of salaah and the promised reward of fifty salaah in lieu of five, among other bounties of Allah is the:
Revelation of the last few verses of Surah Al Baqarah (i.e. from “ Aa-manar-rasoolu bimaa un-zila ilayhi mir-rab-bihee wal-mu’-minoon….till the end).
Sins forgiven of the ummah of Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam): At the same time, it was also announced that the major sins of those in the ummah of Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) who do not ascribe partners with Allah will be forgiven. (Sahih Muslim p. 97 Vol. 1). This means that they will not suffer eternal punishment on account of their major sins, but will instead be pardoned either through tawba (sincere repentance) and istighfaar (seeking the forgiveness of Allah ), or after first being punished for their sins.(An Nawawi).
“Verily Allah and his angels sent salutations to the Prophet. O you who believe, send salutations and greetings to the Prophet.”
It has been reported by Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (ra) that our beloved Prophet Muhammad said:
Allah has created Angels that tour the land and bring to me the greetings of my followers. (Nasai)
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad says in another Hadith reported by Hazrat Ammar bin Yaasir (ra) that Allah has appointed an angel to my grave, whosoever sends salutations upon me, until the day of judgment his salutation is presented to me along with his name and his father’s name.
All the Ulama are unanimous on the fact that all the Prophets (as) are alive in their graves, the salutations that are recited next to the blessed grave of our beloved Prophet Muhammad , is heard directly by the Prophet (saw).
There is a Hadith narrated by Hazrat Anas (ra) that all the Prophets are alive in their graves and they are worshipping. (Baihaqi)
There are many more Hadith stating the life of Prophets in their grave.
Hazrat Abu Darda (ra) reports that our beloved Prophet Muhammad said:
‘Whosoever sends salutations upon me, it is presented before me as soon as he finishes.’ Hazrat Abu Darda (ra) further reports that I asked: ‘Is this also the case after death?’ Our beloved Prophet Muhammad replied:
‘The Earth has been prohibited by Allah to eat the bodies of the Prophets,’ (Ibne Majah)
In another narration, there is an extension, ‘so the Prophets of Allah are alive and are given rizq (food).
From the above Hadith, we find that the salawat is also presented before the blessed body of the best of creation, Prophet Muhammad , along with his blessed soul.
A Hadith in Sahih Muslim supports this belief. In this Hadith, the Prophet (saw) says: ‘I saw the Prophet Musa (as) worshipping in his grave standing.’
Hazrat Maulana Qasim Natotvi (ra) stated that Prophets (as) are alive in the grave, and the likeness of this life in the grave is like that of our sleep. This is because when we sleep, both our eyes and our hearts sleep. But when a Prophet sleeps, his heart remains awake.
This belief is supported by a Hadith in Sahih al Bukhari in which our beloved Prophet Muhammad says: ‘My eyes sleep but my heart does not.’
May Allah grant us the true understanding of Qur’an and Hadith, and may He give us the ability to send salutations upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad and visit his blessed grave time and time again, ameen
Beauty itself boasts about the beauty of the Messenger (saw)
The beauty of galaxies are only the dust of your feet
O Caravan of the desirous! Walk barefoot towards Madinah
The thorns on your way are softer than flowers
When Allah Himself likes beauty, we can only imagine how beautiful He would have made the one whom He chose as his beloved. Hazrat Anas (ra) said that Prophet Muhammad was the most handsome amongst all the Prophet (as) and that his hands were softer than silk
“My eye has not seen anything as beautiful as you
No woman has ever borne anyone as beautiful as you
Pure from imperfections, as if your features were of your own choosing”
Hazrat Aishah Siddiqa (ra) is known to have said
“Oh Zulaikha, you only cut your fingers at seeing (Hazrat) Yusuf (as). Had you seen the Messenger of Allah , you would have cut open your heart.” She also said, “The sky has its sun, we have our own sun”
In another narration, we are told that Halima Sadia’s daughter Shima used to ask her mother to send her brother with her when she would go to tend the sheep. When asked why, Shima said to her mother, “I notice that the sheep graze quickly whenever my brother Muhammad is with me. The sheep then gather around where I sit with my brother, and both I and the sheep gaze at his beautiful face”
Hazrat Qurtubi (ra) said that Allah did not reveal His Messenger’s (saw) entire splendour because the people would not have able to bare it
“How can the beauty of Yusuf ever compare to you?
He was the beloved of Zulaikha: you are the beloved of Allah
Veiled in the secret of humanity is your flawless beauty
Unknown to all that you are part of the beauty of Allah ”
I was thinking this evening about our blessed and noble master, Rasulallah (saw) and the mercy he (saw) so embodied in every aspect of his being. I recalled a lesson of Bukhari taught to us by our teacher, Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq and how he described an incident involving a bedouin and his request for a du’a from the Noble Messenger (saw). We were covering the book of Jumu’a and our respected teacher described how our Master, Rasulallah (saw) would deliver his sermon. From memory, I narrate the following:
At the time of the incident I wish to briefly describe, Madina and the surrounding areas were suffering a great drought that affected everyone and everything for months and months. This drought had been causing great harm and suffering on the people of Madina as crops failed and their livelihoods were affected.
One Jumu’a, the Prophet (saw) was delivering his sermon to the faithful when in to the Masjid walked in a bedouin. Bedouins were generally rough and rugged, in their appearance and character, unlike the Sahabah (ra) who would sit so still in the presence of the Prophet (saw) that a bird could quite easily perch on their heads. The bedouin would not have the etiquettes of such gatherings and were known to talk straight and to the point and in this particular case one bedouin entered abruptly in into the Masjid of Rasulallah (saw). He gestured towards the beloved Prophet (saw) with his hands trying to get the attention of the Prophet (saw). He then said, in front of everyone, “oh Muhammad, there is a lack rain, my cattle and livelihood have been affected and I am suffering so please invoke your Lord and bless us with rain”
Our beloved Nabi (saw) smiled and looked at the sky where no clouds were detected. The mercy to mankind, Prophet Muhammad (saw) raised his noble hands and began to invoke Allah (swt) for the rain that was so needed. No sooner had the noble hands of Rasulallah (saw) had been raised clouds began to appear on the horizon. These clouds were not ordinary clouds; they were dark clouds and so vast that they covered the whole sky with such speed as to turn Madina into darkness. Even before the noble hands of our beloved Nabi (saw) dropped, the rain began to pour…and pour…and pour. Rain landed in every place in Madina and the surrounding areas and it rained and poured into all the valleys until they were filled and flowing with abundant water. All the lands were quenched and the people were very happy.
A week later and the rain was still pouring with the same intensity and again during the Friday sermon of Prophet Muhammad (saw), the same man (in some narrations) entered and complained to Allah ’s Messenger (saw) about the amount of rain that was pouring upon them. He spoke to the Prophet (saw) and said “We are drowning, please invoke Allah to withhold the rain from us”Our beloved Nabi (saw) again smiled at the bedouin and then, with his noble hands raised with his palms facing down and his noble arms stretched out, he said three times, “O Allah ! Let it rain around us but not upon us.” Before Rasulallah (saw) dropped his noble hands the rain began to stop and then he (saw) pointed with his finger at the sky. Wherever he pointed, the clouds in the sky would fold up like a scroll and disperse. He pointed left, right and over head, and each time the clouds were affected and folded and dispersed until no clouds were left over Madina and no rain fell over Madina.
Subhanallah! What a sight that must have been, what a miracle this was. Our beloved Master, Rasulallah (saw) was sent as a mercy to mankind and see how quick Allah (swt) is keen to answer the du’a of his beloved (saw).
I love this story.May Allah (swt) forgive me if I made any errors in narrating it to you.
“Jesus, peace be upon him, asked the Children of Israel: ‘Where does the plant grow?’ They replied: ‘In the dust.’
He said: ‘By the Truth, I tell you, wisdom does not grow except in a heart like dust.’”
As for the daughter of Al Ashir, a night had passed since her death. So Jesus supplicated to Allah so she lived and bore children. The people who witnessed these happenings said: ‘You revive those who have been dead for a short-time so maybe they were not dead merely temporarily paralyzed so revive for us Shem, the son of Prophet Noah.’ So he said to them: ‘Show me his tomb.’ So he went with the tribe until they reached his tomb and then supplicated to Allah . And Shem rose up from his tomb, his hair having turned gray. So Jesus asked him: ‘How is it that your hair has turned gray, in your time hair used not to turn gray?’ He replied: ‘O spirit of Allah , when you called me I heard a voice telling me to answer the spirit of Allah so I thought the Day of Judgment had come and out of fear my hair turned gray.’ Then Jesus asked him about the pain of the departure of the spirit from the body so he answered: ‘O spirit of Allah , surely, the bitterness of the departure never leaves my throat.’ - and he had been dead for more than four thousand years. Then Shem said to the tribe: ‘Believe him, for surely he is a Prophet.’ But some believed and others disbelieved saying: ‘This is magic.’”
Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq is scheduled to deliver a talk entitled ‘The Miraculous Achievements of Rasulullah ??????????????? Part 2′ on Saturday 28th April 2007 at the Azhar Academy, London. This event is for brothers and sisters and the talk will commence after Maghrib salah (8:25 PM).
The first part was simply amazing and part 2 should be even better, inshallah.
